The Kettering City School District has applied for and been granted a “Waiver Day” by the State of Ohio to allow us to do some very important training with our staff members district wide for the coming school year.
The state requires that students be in school for 178 days of instruction each school year. Our school calendar in the Kettering City Schools currently includes the 178 days of instruction for our students. As I noted, we have requested and been granted what is known as a “Waiver Day” for August 30th, which means that students will not be in school on that day.
We have requested this because we will be training all staff members on new district safety and security procedures and we will be training our teachers and administrators on the new Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) on August 30th.
